Prevalence and factors associated with intimate partner violence among women in Recife/Pernambuco, Brazil.

Intimate partner violence is an important cause of morbidity and mortality among women. Although there are no official statistics, data reveal a high prevalence worldwide. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence and factors associated with intimate partner violence among women in a community in Recife, Pernambuco.

Bilateral hypertrophy of masseteric and temporalis muscles, our fifteen patients and review of literature.

Objective: The association of bilateral hypertrophy of temporalis and masseteric muscles is a rare clinical entity. The origin of the condition is unclear, causing cosmetic problems, pain, and functional impairment.

Patients And Methods: In this paper we analyzed 15 patients treated at the Department of Maxillo-Facial Surgery of the University of Naples Federico II, from 2000 to 2013, for temporalis and/or masseteric muscle hypertrophy, and in particular, a rare case of a patient with a marked bilateral swelling of the temporalis and masseteric region, in conjunction with a review of the literature.

Facial osteomas: fourteen cases and a review of literature.

Objective: Osteomas are benign tumors that frequently affect the cranio-facial region, especially the temporal bones, jaw and sinus. This lesion very rarely involves the maxillary bones. The aim of our study is to describe our surgical case series and to evaluate the diagnosis and management of peripheral craniofacial osteomas with a review of the literature.

DELFI: a new orbital conformer in the management of enucleated patients.

Anophthalmia and micro-orbitism due to infections, traumatic events, and oncologic disease can occur both in adulthood and in childhood. After restoring the volume of the socket surgically or using an expander, concurrent forniceal expansion with expanding conformer should be maintained. We created a new type of conformer that is possible to fit even in very reduced or very irregularly shaped socket.
