The article covers results and prospects of research in special industrial medicine on improving methodology of complex evaluation of work conditions in major economy branches including medical sphere workers. On the basis of ecologic epidemiologic research, remote effects of occupational and non-industrial hazards in workers and general population were studied, new technologic processes and equipment were assessed, principles for unifying methods to control chemicals in workplace air were defined, regulation methodical documents concordant with WHO, ILO and EC are specified.

1370 natural strains of human rotaviruses which circulated on the territory of Nizhny Novgorod during the period of 1984-1996 were differentiated with the use of electrophoretic typing of RNA. 58 electrophoretic types of RNA were detected; of these, 8 types dominated in the populations. The specific features of the circulation of strains with different electrophoretic types of RNA were characterized: co-circulation, time of domination, the change of the dominating genetic variant of the virus consecutively between seasons and during seasons.

Hepatic function was studied in 31 patients with coronary heart disease before and after treatment with nicardipine. Clinical and biochemical findings (enhanced gamma-glutamate transferase and high cholesterol, hepatobiliary syndrome) provide evidence for hepatic function disturbance associated with coronary heart disease. Nicardipine produced a good subjective response, the attenuation of hepatobiliary syndrome.
