Curvature Dependence of Gravitational-Wave Tests of General Relativity.

High-energy extensions to general relativity modify the Einstein-Hilbert action with higher-order curvature corrections and theory-specific coupling constants. The order of these corrections imprints a universal curvature dependence on observations while the coupling constant controls the deviation strength. In this Letter, we leverage the theory-independent expectation that modifications to the action of a given order in spacetime curvature (Riemann tensor and contractions) lead to observational deviations that scale with the system length scale to a corresponding power.

: Pancreas transplantation (PTX) remains the most effective treatment to prevent long-term complications and provide consistent euglycemia in patients with endocrine pancreatic insufficiency, mainly in type I diabetic patients. Considering early graft loss (EGL) and the perioperative complication rate, an optimal risk stratification based on donor risk factors is paramount. : In our single-center study, we retrospectively assessed the risk factors for EGL and reduced graft survival in 97 PTXs (82 simultaneous pancreas and kidney [SPK], 11 pancreases transplanted after kidney [PAK] and 4 pancreases transplanted alone [PTA]) between 2010 and 2021.

Vestibular migraine (VM) and Menière's disease (MD) are characterized by episodes of vertigo of similar duration. It is well known that differentiation between both diseases is not always possible based only on the patient history, physical examination, and audiological testing. In addition, the quantification of the vestibular function can also be helpful since, among patients with MD, there is often a dissociation between a normal/pseudo-normal video head impulse test (vHIT) and reduced caloric testing.

Background: Mental health problems, such as depression, have a high prevalence in young people. However, the majority of youths suffering from depression do not seek professional help. This study aimed to compare help-seeking behavior, intentions and perceived barriers between youthswith different levels of depressive symptoms.

Portal vein thrombosis associated with acute cholecystitis.

Portal venous thrombosis (PVT) is an uncommon clinical problem and is rare following cholecystectomy. This article describes a patient who developed PVT after an initially uneventful laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The patient was successfully treated with IV antibiotics and anticoagulation.
