The Rat Genome Database (RGD) is a multispecies knowledgebase which integrates genetic, multiomic, phenotypic, and disease data across 10 mammalian species. To support cross-species, multiomics studies and to enhance and expand on data manually extracted from the biomedical literature by the RGD team of expert curators, RGD imports and integrates data from multiple sources. These include major databases and a substantial number of domain-specific resources, as well as direct submissions by individual researchers.

There is growing appreciation for inherited structural heart diseases and their genetic causes. One causal gene for congenital cardiac and vascular lesions is which encodes a critical protein for cytoskeletal and extracellular matrix development. A newborn infant male, with prenatally diagnosed polyvalvular dysfunction, presented with low cardiac output and postnatally detected aortic arch hypoplasia and coarctation.

Rivers are well-known sources of the greenhouse gasses (GHG) carbon dioxide (CO), methane (CH) and nitrous oxide (NO). These emissions from rivers can increase because of anthropogenic activities, such as agricultural fertilizer input or the discharge of treated wastewater, as these often contain elevated nutrient concentrations. Yet, the specific effects of wastewater effluent discharge on river GHG emissions remain poorly understood.

The Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine is a well-established inducer of innate immune memory (also termed trained immunity), causing increased cytokine production upon heterologous secondary stimulation. Innate immune responses are known to be influenced by season, but whether seasons impact induction of trained immunity is not known. To explore the influence of season on innate immune memory induced by the BCG vaccine, we vaccinated healthy volunteers with BCG either during winter or spring.
