Provocative Findings From a Transdiagnostic Counseling Intervention to Improve Psychiatric Comorbidity and HIV Care Engagement Among People With HIV: A Pilot Randomized Clinical Trial.

Background: Depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, and alcohol/substance use disorders are prevalent among people with HIV (PWH), commonly co-occur, and predict worse HIV care outcomes. Transdiagnostic counseling approaches simultaneously address multiple co-occurring mental health disorders.

Methods: We conducted a pilot individually randomized trial of the Common Elements Treatment Approach adapted for people with HIV (CETA-PWH), a transdiagnostic counseling intervention, compared with usual care at a large academic medical center in the southern United States.

A Randomized Controlled Trial Testing the Effects of a Social Needs Navigation Intervention on Health Outcomes and Healthcare Utilization among Medicaid Members with Type 2 Diabetes.

Health systems are increasingly assessing and addressing social needs with referrals to community resources. The objective of this randomized controlled trial was to randomize adult Medicaid members with type 2 diabetes to receive usual care ( = 239) or social needs navigation ( = 234) for 6 months and compare HbA1c (primary outcome), quality of life (secondary outcome), and other exploratory outcomes with -tests and mixed-effects regression. Eligible participants had an HbA1c test in claims in the past 120 days and reported 1+ social needs.

The Need for Greater Training in Consultation for Behavior Analysts.

Behavior analysts can be found in a variety of settings including homes, schools, hospitals, workplaces, residential group homes, nursing homes, and universities (Association for Professional Behavior Analysts [APBA], 2019). As the field expands, behavior analysts find themselves performing a variety of tasks outside of traditional service delivery. A role of significant importance is that of the consultant.

Neonatal and infant infection with SARS-CoV-2.

Despite the substantial body of investigative work describing the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, its impact on neonates and infants remains less well characterized. Here, we review the data on epidemiology of COVID-19 in this population. Widespread use of universal testing for SARS-CoV-2 among pregnant persons presenting for delivery complicates interpretation of the risks of perinatal exposure.

Engaging School Communities During COVID-19: The Role of School Nurses.

We explored the role of school nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting interviews and focus groups with them in 2022 and 2023 in an urban public school district. Findings indicated that school nurses played an essential public health role in engaging the school community, overseeing COVID-19 testing, and enforcing risk mitigation strategies during the pandemic. Our results contribute to understanding school nurses' experiences during the pandemic and highlight the need for training and support for their vital role.
