Aims: A genotype-guided P2Y12-inhibitor de-escalation strategy, switching acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients without a CYP2C19 loss-of-function allele from ticagrelor or prasugrel to clopidogrel, has shown to reduce bleeding risk without affecting effectivity of therapy by increasing ischemic risk. We estimated the cost-effectiveness of this personalized approach compared to standard dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT; aspirin plus ticagrelor/prasugrel) in the Netherlands.

Methods And Results: We developed a one-year decision tree based on results of the FORCE-ACS registry, comparing a cohort of ACS patients who underwent genotyping with a cohort of ACS patients treated with standard DAPT.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the importance of Advance Care Planning (ACP) for patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and Progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis (PPF), recommending a collaborative approach with patients and families to improve care.
  • A retrospective audit of medical charts from 60 patients who died between December 2017 and December 2020 revealed that while 95% had some documented ACP elements, none contained all fourteen identified key elements.
  • Findings suggest that ACP discussions in the care of IPF/PPF patients are often insufficient and superficial, highlighting the need for better implementation of structured ACP conversations and documentation to truly understand patient preferences.

In this study, we will evaluate whether weight gain prior to primary BMS is related to lower postoperative weight loss.

Purpose: Surgical removal of the cancerous tissue remains the cornerstone of curative treatment for colorectal cancer and results in an inflammatory response. An exaggerated inflammatory response has been implicated in the promotion of tumor proliferation and has shown associations with postoperative complications. Literature on the preferred surgical technique to minimize inflammatory response is inconclusive.
