Vasopressin (AVP), a nonapeptide synthesized predominantly by magnocellular hypothalamic neurons, is conveyed to the posterior pituitary the pituitary stalk, where AVP is secreted into the circulation. Known to regulate blood pressure and water homeostasis, it also modulates diverse social behaviors, such as pair-bonding, social recognition and cognition in mammals including humans. Importantly, AVP modulates social behaviors in a gender-specific manner, perhaps, due to gender differences in the distribution in the brain of AVP and its main receptor AVPR1a.

Background: Point-of-care (POC) high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) assays have been shown to provide similar analytical precision despite substantially shorter turnaround times compared with laboratory-based hs-cTn assays. We applied the previously developed machine learning based personalised Artificial Intelligence in Suspected Myocardial Infarction Study (ARTEMIS) algorithm, which can predict the individual probability of myocardial infarction, with a single POC hs-cTn measurement, and compared its diagnostic performance with standard-of-care pathways for rapid rule-out of myocardial infarction.
Methods: We retrospectively analysed pooled data from consecutive patients of two prospective observational cohorts in geographically distinct regions (the Safe Emergency Department Discharge Rate cohort from the USA and the Suspected Acute Myocardial Infarction in Emergency cohort from Australia) who presented to the emergency department with suspected myocardial infarction.
Objectives: Mobile health (mHealth) regimens can improve health through the continuous monitoring of biometric parameters paired with appropriate interventions. However, adherence to monitoring tends to decay over time. Our randomized controlled trial sought to determine: (1) if a mobile app with gamification and financial incentives significantly increases adherence to mHealth monitoring in a population of heart failure patients; and (2) if activity data correlate with disease-specific symptoms.
