Aim of this paper is to investigate the presence of White Matter Lesions (WMLs) in subjects affected by Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSNHL) and possibly to evaluate the significance of WMLs in SSNHL patients. A total of 64 patients (cases) affected by SSNHL were included in this case-control study. Hearing tests were performed at SSNHL onset, after 7 days and after 30 days.

Hearing threshold identification in very young children is always problematic and challenging. Electrophysiological testing such as auditory brainstem responses (ABR) is still considered the most reliable technique for defining the hearing threshold. However, over recent years there has been increasing evidence to support the role of auditory steady-state response (ASSR).

There is increasing interest about all aspects of pain sensation for patients undergoing head and neck surgery, and efforts have been made to better assess, monitor and reduce the occurrence of pain. The aetiology of pain is considered to be "multifactorial", as it is defined by several features such as personal experience, quality perception, location, intensity and emotional impact. The aim of this paper is: (i) to evaluate the efficacy of analgesic treatment in patients with head and neck cancer treated by surgery, and (ii) to study the variables and predictive factors that can influence the occurrence of pain.

The aim of this study was to estimate the risk of ischemic stroke among SSNHL patients within the province of Ferrara and compare the findings with data available in the literature.
Methods: This was a cohort study using hospital discharge records.
The aim of the study was to compare the expression of oestrogen receptor alpha (ERα) in neovaginal tissue of patients with vaginal agenesis following neovaginoplasty using regenerated, oxidised cellulose in premenopausal women. A prospective, observational case-control study was performed on eight patients with vaginal agenesis following modified Abbé-McIndoe neovaginoplasty and 10 control premenopausal women following benign gynaecologic surgery. 6F11 monoclonal antibody was used to determine ERα expression in the vaginal mucosa.
