Background: Locally advanced periorbital cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) may require orbital exenteration, which is highly morbid. As immunotherapy develops, orbit preservation may become widespread, and data benchmarking survival with current standard-of-care surgery and radiotherapy are essential to the integration of this emerging method into modern treatment paradigms. The human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) encoded chemokine receptor US28 plays a critical role in viral pathogenesis, mediating several processes such as cellular migration, differentiation, transformation, and viral latency and reactivation. Despite significant research examining the signal transduction pathways utilized by US28, the precise mechanism by which US28 activates these pathways remains unclear. We performed a mutational analysis of US28 to identify signaling domains that are critical for functional activities.

Status Epilepticus with Fever in a Toddler with Pyogenic Meningitis Due to Complicated Acute Sphenoid Sinusitis.

We present a toddler with acute sphenoid sinusitis presenting as status epilepticus with fever, intracranial abscess and meningitis. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis suggested bacterial meningitis, but polymerase chain reaction test was positive for human herpes virus 6. We highlight diagnosis and treatment of this uncommon condition.
