This work presents the effect of surface roughness (Al 7075) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of cold-sprayed nickel coatings. Coating analysis included substrate surfaces and coating geometry, microstructure characterization, microhardness, nanohardness, elastic modulus, and adhesion. The results show that the surface preparation had a significant effect on coating adhesion and microstructure.

This paper discusses the features of ω-phase formation and its thermal stability depending on the phase composition, alloying element and the grain size of the initial microstructure of Ti-Nb and Ti-Mo alloys subjected to high-pressure torsion (HPT) deformation. In the case of two-phase Ti-3wt.% Nb and Ti-20wt.

It is well known that severe plastic deformation not only leads to strong grain refinement and material strengthening but also can drive phase transformations. A study of the fundamentals of α → ω phase transformations induced by high-pressure torsion (HPT) in Ti-Nb-based alloys is presented in the current work. Before HPT, a Ti-3wt.

Poly(methylvinylsiloxane) (V polymer) obtained by kinetically controlled anionic ring-opening polymerization of 1,3,5-trimethyl-1,3,5-trivinylcyclotrisiloxane was cross-linked with various amounts of 1,3,5,7-tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D ) in w/o high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs). PolyHIPEs thus prepared differed in the polymer cross-linking degree, which affected their porous morphology and total porosity. The obtained V polymer-based polyHIPEs were applied as matrices for the incorporation of Pd from the Pd(OAc) solution in tetrahydrofuran.

Enhancing the strength of Mg-based biodegradable alloys without decreasing their corrosion resistance is a major engineering challenge. In addition, the growing demand for effective reduction of infections and inflammation after implant placement motivates the design of alloys with appropriate compositions or coatings. One promising alloying element is silver, whose antibacterial effect has long been known.
