Introduction: Genital affirmation surgery (GAS) requests are consistently increasing in demand. The gold standard is penile skin inversion, using cutaneous grafting for neovagina creation. The aim is to achieve the most realistic results both physically and functionally.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the impact of ischemic preconditioning on reducing tissue damage caused by warm venous ischemia in muscle flaps used in plastic surgery.
  • An experimental analysis was performed on latissimus dorsi flaps from 12 pigs, examining histological changes and cell responses to varying preconditioning times and ischemia durations.
  • Results indicate that 40-minute and 1-hour preconditioning significantly decreased signs of tissue damage, inflammation, and cell death compared to the control group, suggesting that preconditioning is effective in minimizing ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Fetal spinal cord (SC) tissue grafts can survive and develop into the lesioned SC, but no conclusive data are available concerning the long-term fate of transplanted material and the relation between the graft fate and the donor embryo age. Here, pre-labelled suspensions of ventral SC from E12 or E17 rat fetuses were grafted to the lumbar SC of adult rats with motoneuron depletion induced by perinatal injection of volkensin. E12 and E17 are presumably the stages when motoneuron development starts and terminates, respectively.

In this study, we evaluated the expression of genes probably involved in spermatogenesis in the mouse. We examined cytosolic chaperonin theta subunit (CCTtheta), Ngg1 interacting factor 3 like 1 binding protein 1 (NIF3L1 BP1) and apolipoprotein H (ApoH) expression during mouse onto-geny using RT-PCR. Testicular tissue was obtained from mice 3, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 20 and 40 (adult) days after birth.
