Background: Addressing modifiable risk factors such as physical inactivity and social isolation could reduce risk of Alzheimer's disease and all-cause dementia, but little is known about which factors individuals are most willing to address or how they prefer to address them.
Objective: To examine and describe behavior change goals set by participants during the Systematic Multi-domain Alzheimer's Risk Reduction Trial (SMARRT).
Methods: In SMARRT, older adults worked with a health coach and nurse over 2 years to set incremental, personalized goals to reduce dementia risk.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia in older adults. Although AD progression is characterized by stereotyped accumulation of proteinopathies, the affected cellular populations remain understudied. Here we use multiomics, spatial genomics and reference atlases from the BRAIN Initiative to study middle temporal gyrus cell types in 84 donors with varying AD pathologies.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPrevious studies demonstrate that self-reports of mammography screening for breast cancer and colonoscopy screening for colorectal cancer demonstrate concordance, based on adherence to screening guidelines, with electronic medical records (EMRs) in over 90% of those interviewed, as well as high sensitivity and specificity, and can be used for monitoring our Healthy People goals. However, for screening tests for cervical and lung cancers, and for various sub-populations, concordance between self-report and EMRs has been noticeably lower with poor sensitivity or specificity. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of lung, colorectal, cervical, and breast cancer screening questions from the 2021 and 2022 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS).

Background: Children are particularly at risk of malaria. This analysis consolidates the clinical data for pyronaridine-artesunate (PA) paediatric granules in children from three randomized clinical trials and a real-world study (CANTAM).
Methods: An integrated safety analysis of individual patient data from three randomized clinical trials included patients with microscopically-confirmed Plasmodium falciparum, body weight ≥ 5 kg to < 20 kg, who received at least one dose of study drug (paediatric safety population).
Importance: Modifiable risk factors are hypothesized to account for 30% to 40% of dementia; yet, few trials have demonstrated that risk-reduction interventions, especially multidomain, are efficacious.
Objective: To determine if a personalized, multidomain risk reduction intervention improves cognition and dementia risk profile among older adults.
Design, Setting, And Participants: The Systematic Multi-Domain Alzheimer Risk Reduction Trial was a randomized clinical trial with a 2-year personalized, risk-reduction intervention.
