The relation between the biochemical composition of knee articular cartilage and quantitative MRI: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: Early and non-invasive detection of osteoarthritis (OA) is required to enable early treatment and monitoring of interventions. Some of the earliest signs of OA are the change in proteoglycan and collagen composition. The aim of this study is to establish the relations between quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and biochemical concentration and organization in knee articular cartilage.

Partial Response to First-Line Crizotinib in an Elderly Male Patient with ROS1 Translocation-Positive Lung Cancer.

We report on a 90-year-old male patient with a ROS1-translocated adenocarcinoma of the lung who was treated with crizotinib as first-line therapy. After 11 months of treatment, we noticed complete metabolic response as measured by (18)F-FDG-PET/CT scan and a partial response according to RECIST criteria. This patient indicates that ROS1 translocations are not restricted to young age, female gender and low stage.

Choroidal Haller's and Sattler's layer thickness measurement using 3-dimensional 1060-nm optical coherence tomography.

Objectives: To examine the feasibility of automatically segmented choroidal vessels in three-dimensional (3D) 1060-nmOCT by testing repeatability in healthy and AMD eyes and by mapping Haller's and Sattler's layer thickness in healthy eyes.

Methods: Fifty-five eyes (from 45 healthy subjects and 10 with non-neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) subjects) were imaged by 3D-1060-nmOCT over a 36°x36° field of view. Haller's and Sattler's layer were automatically segmented, mapped and averaged across the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study grid.

Hyperintense lesions in brain MRI after exposure to a mercuric chloride-containing skin whitening cream.

Exposure to inorganic mercury (Hg) is a serious problem presenting with a combination of neurological and psychiatric symptoms along with weight loss, pruritus, erythema, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, and renal tubular dysfunction. We report a 4-year-old girl with chronic intoxication of inorganic mercury secondary to the accidental use of an Hg₂Cl₂- and HgCl₂-containing skin whitening cream (urine level of Hg, 41.1 μg/l; reference level, < 25 μg/l).
