Surgical infections are severe complications of surgical interventions and one of the most important patient safety issues. These are associated with increased morbidity, mortality, costs and decreased quality of life. Prevention of infections is essential, while one has to consider pre-, intra- and postoperative factors and procedures in the clinical practice.

Coronary angiogram revealed a serious lesion in the proximal segment of the left anterior descending coronary branch with a poor run off tract. 18FDG-PET and 99mTc-MIBI-SPECT investigation were performed in order to differentiate the scarred regions from the viable myocardial segments.

The parameters of the vital functions prove beyond all doubt that, at the customary ward temperature, the vital functions of the true malnourished infants are subnormal; in contrast, in response to the thermoneutral climate at 29 degrees C, they accelerate and then normalize. The disturbance of the thermal regulation, which develops in response to the extreme physical disparity of the malnourished infant and to the inadequate environment, is eliminated in the warm, comfort climate.
