Purpose: To evaluate factors associated with postoperative anterior shoulder pain following arthroscopic suprapectoral biceps tenodesis (ABT) and to determine the clinical impact of postoperative anterior shoulder pain.

Methods: A retrospective study of patients that underwent ABT between 2016 and 2020 was conducted. Groups were categorized by the presence (ASP+) or absence (ASP-) of postoperative anterior shoulder pain.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates infection rates associated with different graft types (quadriceps tendon, hamstring tendon, bone-patellar tendon-bone, and allograft) used in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).
  • Data was gathered from 6,652 patients who underwent ACLR between 2000 and 2022, focusing on septic arthritis occurrences post-surgery.
  • The results showed that the overall rate of septic arthritis post-ACLR was low (0.34%), with the lowest rates observed for quadriceps tendon grafts, although a significant difference in infection rates among graft types was noted.

In the past 3 decades, the cartilage repair potential of mesenchymal stromal cells, or mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), has been widely examined in animal studies. Unfortunately, the phenotype and physical properties of MSC-derived cartilage tissue are not comparable to native hyaline cartilage. In particular, chondrocytic hypertrophy, a phenotype that is not observed in healthy hyaline cartilage, is concomitant with MSC chondrogenesis.

The nature of the influence of histamine on the slow wave and spike spontaneous activity of both perirenal and peribladder bordering areas of the bladder zone has been studied. It is shown that under these conditions of activated renal section of the organ, in the distal part, the decrease in frequency of the slow waves occurred. The histamine effect also contributes to improvement of the conduction of the excitation wave propagating to the bladder, which destroys the coordination of spike activity of the latter with slow waves of ureteral bordering zone.
