Corpus callosotomy is a therapeutic approach for drug-resistant epilepsy, with positive outcomes observed in managing atonic seizures. Despite a decline in its usage, radiosurgical callosotomy remains a viable option for drug-resistant epilepsy due to its low risks of post-radiation neoplasia, albeit not with exceptions. Brain radionecrosis is characterized by tissue death and vascular endothelial damage following the procedure.

The reaction between 5-acetylbarbituric acid and 4-dimethylthiosemicarbazide or 4-hexamethyleneiminyl thiosemicarbazide produces 5-acetylbarbituric-4-dimethylthiosemicarbazone (HAcbDM) and 5-acetylbarbituric-4N-hexamethyleneiminyl thiosemicarbazone (HAcbhexim). Eight new complexes with different copper(II) salts have been prepared and characterized using elemental analysis, molar conductance, UV-Vis, ESI-HRMS, FT-IR, magnetic moment, EPR, and cyclic voltammetry. In addition, three-dimensional molecular structures of [Cu(HAcbDM)(HO)](NO)·HO (), [Cu(HAcbDM)(HO)]ClO (), and [Cu(HAcbHexim)Cl] () were determined by single crystal X-ray crystallography, and an analysis of their supramolecular structure was carried out.

Diarrheagenic E. coli (DEC) strains are one of the most important etiology factors causing diarrhea in children worldwide, especially in developing countries. DEC strains have characteristic virulence factors; however, other supplemental virulence genes (SVG) may contribute to the development of diarrhea in children.

Nef is an HIV-encoded accessory protein that enhances pathogenicity by down-regulating major histocompatibility class I (MHC-I) expression to evade killing by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). A potent Nef inhibitor that restores MHC-I is needed to promote immune-mediated clearance of HIV-infected cells. We discovered that the plecomacrolide family of natural products restored MHC-I to the surface of Nef-expressing primary cells with variable potency.

Phosphopantetheine is a key structural element in biological acyl transfer reactions found embedded within coenzyme A (CoA). Phosphopantothenoylcysteine synthetase (PPCS) is responsible for installing a cysteamine group within phosphopantetheine. Therefore, it holds considerable potential as a drug target for developing new antimicrobials.
