Skeletal muscle is crucial for health, and glucocorticoid-induced atrophy poses a significant clinical challenge. This study utilized a dexamethasone (Dex)-induced mouse model to assess the impact of selenium supplementation on skeletal muscle atrophy during and after Dex treatment. Increasing evidence suggests the existence of a 'gut-muscle axis', where gut microbiota plays a regulatory role in muscle metabolism and function.

Article Synopsis
  • Regular monitoring of blood oxygen levels is crucial for preventing and treating diseases, and Image Photoplethysmography (IPPG) technology is a non-contact method used for this purpose.
  • Traditional IPPG devices face challenges like low accuracy and limited spectral range, prompting the need for improved methods.
  • This paper presents two new detection methods based on dual-wavelength measurements, demonstrating that the dual-band IPPG signal AC/DC method significantly reduces model training time and enhances non-contact blood oxygen measurement capabilities.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most common primary solid malignant tumors in orthopedics, and its main clinical treatments are surgery and chemotherapy. However, a wide surgical resection range, functional reconstruction of postoperative limbs, and chemotherapy resistance remain as challenges for patients and orthopedists. To address these problems, the discovery of new effective conservative treatments is important.

Background: Awake prone positioning has been used for non-intubated patients with COVID-19-related acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure, but the results are contradictory. We aimed to highlight the role of awake prone positioning combined with high-flow nasal oxygen therapy in severe COVID-19 patients infected with the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2.

Methods: From June 12 to December 7, 2021, we successfully performed prone position(PP) combined with high-flow nasal oxygen(HFNO) therapy on two patients infected with the delta variant of SARS-CoV-2.

Background And Aims: Portal hypertension (PHT) is common in end-stage cirrhosis, and variceal bleeding is the main complication associated with mortality. Surgery is usually performed in patients with PHT with a high risk of variceal bleeding in China. This study aimed to introduce an individualized and precise total laparoscopic surgical procedure based on 3D remodeling for PHT.
