Article Synopsis
  • Ultrasonography is the main method for diagnosing thyroid nodules, and TIRADS aims to standardize evaluation and decrease unnecessary biopsies by assessing risk levels.
  • A study involving a survey of Polish physicians indicated that a significant number were unaware of TIRADS, with only 33.4% actively using it, despite 43.4% knowing it exists.
  • Among TIRADS users, younger physicians and radiologists were more common, and the study highlighted the need for increased training and adoption of TIRADS, especially with new guidelines from Polish scientific societies.

Background: Evidence suggests that patients with Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) are at significantly higher risk of developing papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). However, the course of PTC in patients with both diseases concomitantly has been found to be more indolent than conventional PTC. Additionally, it has been well proven that BRAF mutation results in an aggressive course of PTC.

There is a great need for early diagnosis of ischemic heart disease (IHD), the most common cause of which is haemodynamic disorders caused mainly by obstructive atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries. The diagnosis of IHD is usually made with the use of functional tests, which include resting ECG (R) or examination of significant perfusion disorders during exercise using the SPECT method. Despite the fact that the ECG (R) test is commonly used in cardiological diagnostics, it has a limited diagnostic value, especially in people with a low probability of coronary artery disease (CAD).

AlGaN/GaN fin-shaped and large-area grating gate transistors with two layers of two-dimensional electron gas and a back gate were fabricated and studied experimentally. The back gate allowed reducing the subthreshold leakage current, improving the subthreshold slope and adjusting the threshold voltage. At a certain back gate voltage, transistors operated as normally-off devices.
