Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates biomarkers for severe Graves' orbitopathy (GO) by analyzing gene expression in orbital fibroblasts and comparing it to tear protein profiles from previous research.* -
  • Researchers grew fibroblasts from adipose tissue of nine GO patients and performed RNA sequencing to identify differentially expressed genes, revealing significant upregulation and downregulation patterns.* -
  • The findings highlighted S100 calcium-binding protein A4 (S100A4) as a consistently downregulated gene, suggesting its potential role as a biomarker for GO.*

Introduction: The current technique of angulating for a skyline knee projection relies heavily on the radiographer's estimation of the patella tilt, rendering it subjective and prone to errors. This study therefore aims to (i) examine the correlation between angle ABC measured on the lateral X-ray image and skyline angulation (measured in degrees) and (ii) determine the inter-rater reliability of angle ABC measurements.

Methods: 145 sets of lateral and skyline X-ray images from patients aged 40-70 years old were retrospectively analysed.
