Thirty-seven cerebral palsy patients were followed with measurements of the migration index (MI), infrapelvic obliquity, and suprapelvic obliquity over a mean period of 73 months to evaluate the development of the windblown deformity. The infrapelvic asymmetry was apparent before the suprapelvic obliquity; however, 65% eventually had both. The final pattern of infrapelvic obliquity and the most subluxed hip could not be predicted from initial radiographs or from the pattern of scoliosis.

Twelve shoulders were mounted in a load frame that allowed compressive loading of the distal clavicle into the acromion. Specimens were loaded to 100 N (20 N/sec) while load and deformation data were recorded for three conditions: (1) intact, (2) 5-mm closed resection, and (3) 10-mm open resection.

This difficulty is supposedly enhanced when the physician's hands are wet, a situation commonly encountered when regloving during surgical procedures. This investigation dispels these beliefs by demonstrating that the forces required to don powder free gloves do not differ significantly from those required to don gloves coated in cornstarch lubricant.

Because the skin closure tapes adhere aggressively to powdered latex gloves, it is difficult for the emergency physician to separate the tape from his glove and apply the tape to the skin. The advent of a new powder free glove allows the emergency physician to handle the tapes and accomplish tape wound closure.
