Investigating the impact of screen-sharing visual aids during genomic results disclosure via telehealth in diverse families in the TeleKidSeq pilot study.

Purpose: Telehealth genetic counseling is comparable to in-person visits in terms of satisfaction, knowledge, and psychological outcomes, but using visual aids can be challenging on telehealth platforms. This pilot study assessed if the "screen-sharing" feature via Zoom to display visual aids during results disclosure session positively impacted parental experience and comprehension of their child's genomic results especially in underrepresented groups and those with limited English proficiency.

Methods: In the TeleKidSeq pilot study, 409 children with suspected genetic conditions underwent genome sequencing.

3D Printing Organogels with Bioderived Cyrene for High-Resolution Customized Hydrogel Structures.

3D printing techniques are increasingly being explored to produce hydrogels, versatile materials with a wide range of applications. While photopolymerization-based 3D printing can produce customized hydrogel shapes and intricate structures, its reliance on rigid printing conditions limits material properties compared to those of extrusion printing. To address this limitation, this study employed an alternative approach by printing an organogel precursor using vat polymerization with organic solvents instead of water, followed by solvent exchange after printing to create the final hydrogel material.

Upadacitinib as salvage therapy in adolescents with acute severe ulcerative colitis refractory to conventional treatments.

Objectives: Upadacitinib (UPA), a selective Janus kinase-1 inhibitor, has demonstrated efficacy in inducing and maintaining remission in moderate to severe ulcerative colitis (UC) in adults. Current standard management for acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) involves intravenous corticosteroids (IVCS) followed by infliximab (IFX) salvage therapy. Limited data exist on the utility of UPA in ASUC, particularly in adolescents.

Lessons Learned from a Community-led, Pilot Teletherapy Group for Older Women Living with Depression and HIV.

Older women with HIV face challenges to their quality of life, including neurocognitive decline, early-onset menopause, and chronic health issues. Chief among these concerns is depression, the most common psychiatric comorbidity among people living with HIV, with rates twice as high among women as men. However, tailored interventions among older women living with HIV and depression are lacking.
