Bt Soybean Cry1Ac Does Not Affect Development, Reproduction, or Feeding Behavior of Red-Banded Stink Bug Piezodorus guildinii (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae).

Bt soybean cultivation is increasing worldwide. The Cry1Ac protein expressed in Bt soybean efficiently controls several lepidopteran pests. The stink bug, Piezodorus guildinii (Westwood), a major pest for soybean in the Americas, is not controlled by Bt crops, although possible sub-lethal effects may occur.

Non-Renal Lesions of Uraemia in Domestic Cats.

Uraemia is a clinical syndrome caused by an increase in uraemia-associated toxins in the bloodstream as a consequence of intrinsic kidney or lower urinary tract diseases. Cats seem to be more affected by urinary tract diseases than dogs, particularly considering that chronic kidney disease (CKD) is one of the most important conditions in cats. Considering the lack of information on the systemic lesions of uraemia in cats, the aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and clinical and pathological aspects of non-renal lesions in uraemic cats, with special attention to the differences between cats and dogs.

Ingestive Behavior of Young Lambs on Contrasting Tropical Grass Sward Heights.

The efficiency of grazing ruminant production systems is directly associated to the animals' ingestive behavior, and to structural characteristics of the pastures. The objective of this study was to evaluate the ingestive behavior of young lambs grazing three different heights of Capim Aruana (). The experiment was carried out in two consecutive years, in which 30 tester lambs (4-5 months old) were equally divided into three paddocks (treatments) corresponding to different average sward heights of Aruana grass: (1) Tall-75 cm; (2) Medium-50 cm; and (3) Short-25 cm in a randomized block design.

[Diagnosis and treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia in Spain: Consensus document].

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a common genetic disorder, clinically manifested since birth, and associated with very high levels of plasma LDL-cholesterol (LDL-c), xanthomas, and premature coronary heart disease. Its early detection and treatment reduces coronary morbidity and mortality. Despite effective treatment being available, FH is under-diagnosed and under-treated.
