Traditional photopolymerizations generally requires an initiator for initiating the polymerization while few cases have created degradable chemical bonds. Moreover, the migration instability and cytotoxicity of photo initiators are posing issues to human health and the environment. In this work, we discovered an initiator-free photo polycondensation system (IFPPC) between polymercaptans and aldehyde monomers, producing high strength plastic materials with exchangeable and degradable dithioacetal groups.

Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is characterized by a compromised cochlear perception of sound waves. Major risk factors for SNHL include genetic mutations, exposure to noise, ototoxic medications, and the aging process. Previous research has demonstrated that inflammation, oxidative stress, apoptosis, and autophagy, which are detrimental to inner ear cells, contribute to the pathogenesis of SNHL; however, the precise mechanisms remain inadequately understood.

Oxidative stress induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS) can adversely affect tissue repair, whereas endowing biomaterials with antioxidant activity can improve the in vivo microenvironment, thereby promoting angiogenesis and osteogenesis. Accordingly, this study utilized epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a material known for its reducing properties, oxidative self-polymerization capability, and strong binding characteristics, to modify a bioactive core-shell fibrous membrane (10RP-PG). Compared to the 10RP-PG fibrous membrane, the EGCG-modified fibrous membrane (E/10RP-PG) exhibited superior hydrophilicity, excellent cell adhesion, and compatibility.

Thirteen new cyathane diterpene glycosides, hericinosides A-M (-), and six known analogs, were isolated from the rice media fermentation of the medicinal fungus . The sugar parts of and were highly modified, forming a unique 5/6/7/5/5/5 ring new skeleton system. All structures were elucidated based on spectroscopic data, and their relative configurations were determined according to the ROESY analysis.
