Although some cognitive studies provided reasons that children with low socioeconomic status (SES) showed poor mathematical achievements, there was no explicit evidence to directly explain the root of lagged performance in children with low SES. Therefore, the present study explored the differences in neural correlates in the process of symbolic magnitude comparison between children with different SESs by the event-related potentials (ERPs). A total of 16 second-graders from low-SES families and 16 from middle/high-SES families participated in this study.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the cost-effectiveness of a comprehensive approach to control schistosomiasis by removing cattle and sheep in Juanshan District, Yueyang City.
  • Data was collected over a decade (2006-2016) regarding infection rates in humans, cattle, sheep, and snails, along with the costs of the control measures.
  • Results showed a significant drop in infection rates among residents from 3.44% in 2006 to 0% in 2016, with varying annual prevention costs, ultimately concluding that this strategy is cost-effective and could be applied to similar regions.

To evaluate the effect of comprehensive schistosomiasis control measures with focus on total removal of cattle and sheep in Junshan District, Yueyang City. The retrospective review and field survey were implemented in the pilot villages in Junshan District. The data of infection status of human, cattle, sheep and snails, and density of snails were gathered and modeled in the period of 2006 to 2016.

Objective: To explore the strategy and countermeasures of snail control and evaluate the effect in inside-embankment areas of lake-type schistosomiasis endemic area, for providing the effective method for controlling and interrupting the schistosomiasis transmission.

Methods: The data of schistosomiasis epidemic and its control and prevention were collected in Junshan District, Hunan Province, and the effect of snail control countermeasures were evaluated and the trend of indexes of snails was drafted in the inside-embankment areas of Junshan District, Hunan Province from 1998 to 2007.

Results: The area with snails in the inside embankment areas of Junshan District decreased by 98.

A strategy for decreasing the viscosity variation in the process of CO2 capture by amino-functionalized ionic liquids (ILs) through the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bond was reported. Different with the dramatic increase in viscosity during CO2 uptake by traditional amino-functionalized ILs, slight increase or even decrease in viscosity was achieved through introducing a N or O atom as hydrogen acceptor into amino-functionalized anion, which could stabilize the active hydrogen of produced carbamic acid. Quantum chemical calculations and spectroscopic investigations demonstrated that the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bond between introduced hydrogen acceptor and carbamic acid was the key to avoid the dramatic increase in viscosity during the capture of CO2 by these amino-functionalized ILs.
