There have been several recent studies that indicate that patients with rheumatological diseases are at a higher risk of developing malignant neoplasms than the general population. This clinical case presents a patient with ankylosing spondylitis, a rare autoimmune disease in women, in addition to breast cancer. The close relationship between rheumatology and malignancy highlights the challenges in terms of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, making this case highly relevant.

The serotonin membrane transporter is one of the main mechanisms of plasma serotonin concentration regulation. Serotonin plays an important role in the pathogenesis of various cardiovascular diseases, stimulating the proliferation of smooth muscle cells, key cells in the process of hypertrophic vascular remodeling. Vascular remodeling is one of the leading prognostically unfavorable factors of atherosclerosis, the main manifestation of familial hypercholesterolemia.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the rehabilitation length of stay and functional outcome of patients with amputation on chronic dialysis with a similar group of patients not on dialysis.

Design: This was a retrospective cohort study. Twenty-five patients with amputations on chronic dialysis and 25 nonrenal controls with amputation were included in the two groups.

Unlabelled: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted to determine the benefit of nabilone in pain management and quality of life improvement in 40 patients with fibromyalgia. After a baseline assessment, subjects were titrated up on nabilone, from 0.5 mg PO at bedtime to 1 mg BID over 4 weeks or received a corresponding placebo.
