Formation of specific immune response of Geren's carcinoma (GC) versus its biological properties was studied in non-inbred rat spleen. GC growth was accompanied by mounting immune response to tumor-associated antigens (TAA) which was evaluated by macrophage adherence inhibition test. Increase in cell-mediated response to such antigens passed through stages determined by the peculiarities of GC growth in spleen tissues.

Regulating effect of thyroid hormones on functions of organs of the immune system has been demonstrated in the experiment. Deficiency of thyroid hormones affects thymulin synthesis and morphofunctional status of immunogenesis organs. Combination of thymostimulin and thyroxin in the thyroidectomized animals, as compared to their separate use, is pathogenetically the most adequate correcting therapy aiming normalization of structural and functional disorders in the thymus and spleen.

The review deals with current information on fibroblasts as cells with polypotential functions stimulated by synthesis of various biologically active substances. The presence of functional contacts with various cells ensures the control of the cell division and differentiation, indicates the role of cell cooperation in remodelling the connective tissue by means of regulation of fibrillogenesis and degradation of the intercellular substance under different pathological conditions. It is shown that structural-functional alterations of fibroblasts in some diseases are the indices of changes in their interaction with mesenchymal and non-mesenchymal cells and with stromal intercellular substance.

Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity and polyamine content were studied in the intact mucosa and tumours of human stomach and large intestine adenocarcinomas. ODC activity has been found to be much higher in the neoplastic tissue than in the corresponding intact mucosa. Concentrations of polyamines in neoplasms were also higher than in mucosa.
