Prevalence of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis in 120 archived specimens of Lithobates catesbeianus (American bullfrog) collected in California, 1924-2007.

The chytrid fungus, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd), has been identified as a major cause of the recent worldwide amphibian decline. Numerous species in North America alone are under threat or have succumbed to Bd-driven population extinctions. The American bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus) has been reported as a tolerant carrier of Bd.

A DVD program on fall prevention skills training for cancer family caregivers.

This feasibility study tested an instructional DVD program for improving cancer family caregivers' knowledge and preparedness in fall prevention and reducing fall occurrence among the patients they care for at home. DVD program features included training caregivers on safe mobility skills. Family caregivers of cancer patients were surveyed before and after viewing the DVD program on "Moving Safely" in the home.

A 9-year-old girl presented with lethargy, malaise & chest pain. Her blood counts confirmed hypochromic microcytic anemia. She was prescribed iron supplements.

Cranial computed tomography in trauma: the accuracy of interpretation by staff in the emergency department.

Objectives: Cranial computed tomography (CT) is replacing skull radiography in head trauma. Rapid radiological opinions on these images may not always be available. We assessed the ability of our permanent emergency department staff to interpret the images.
