Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common clinical condition with significant health risks for patients and is widely recognised as a major public health concern. Laboratory medicine plays a crucial role in both diagnosing and managing CKD, as diagnosis and staging rely on estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and evaluating albuminuria (or proteinuria). It was evident that the laboratory assessment of CKD in Malaysia is not standardised.

Importance: Serial circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) has emerged as a routine surveillance strategy for patients with resected colorectal cancer, but how serial ctDNA monitoring is associated with potential curative outcomes has not been formally assessed.

Objective: To examine whether there is a benefit of adding serial ctDNA assays to standard-of-care imaging surveillance for potential curative outcomes in patients with resected colorectal cancer.

Design, Setting, And Participants: In this single-center (City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, Duarte, California), retrospective, case cohort study, patients with stage II to IV colorectal cancer underwent curative resection and were monitored with serial ctDNA assay and National Cancer Center Network (NCCN)-guided imaging surveillance from September 20, 2019, to April 3, 2024.

To investigate the impact of preoperative serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels on the probability of testicular sperm retrieval, we conducted a study of nonobstructive azoospermic (NOA) men with different testicular volumes (TVs) who underwent microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE). A total of 177 NOA patients undergoing micro-TESE for the first time from April 2019 to November 2022 in Shenzhen Zhongshan Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital (formerly Shenzhen Zhongshan Urology Hospital, Shenzhen, China) were retrospectively reviewed. The subjects were divided into four groups based on average TV quartiles.

Exploiting solid powder fluorescence holds significant potential in diverse domains including medicine and forensics. Conventional fingerprint detection methods often fall short due to low contrast, sensitivity, and high toxicity. To addressing these challenges, we present a novel method for latent fingerprint detection using fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) encapsulated into conventional or mesoporous SiO colloidal spheres (CD@SiO or CDs@m-SiO) through a surface functionalization-assisted cooperative assembly process.

Background: Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is a common gynecological issue during reproductive years. Researches on how dietary diversity and patterns influence AUB in Chinese university students are limited, with some studies not clearly defining irregular menstruation. This research investigated the incidence of AUB according to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics criteria and sought to identify preventative factors via online questionnaires.
