Background: Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) is known to be involved in carcinogenesis and cancer progression. Changes in TLR4 expression are associated with changes in the expression of key cellular cytokines (transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interferon-γ (IFN-γ)), which affect cancer progression and metastasis.
Aim: To study changes in the expression of TLR4, TGF-β, TNF-α, IFN-γ genes, the level of apoptosis and cell cycle distribution in human invasive urothelial carcinoma T24/83 cells under the treatment with polyphenolic adjuvant compound of fungal origin melanin, cytotoxic drug cisplatin, and combination of both.
Cerium dioxide nanoparticles (CeO NPs) with a high value of ζ-potential (≥30 mV) have been synthesized in reverse microemulsions and they are able to form the high-stable aqueous suspension without any additional stabilizers. It has been shown that the interaction of such CeO NPs with transport proteins, such as BSA, affects their molecular conformation and biochemical activity. The observed changes in the UV-absorbance spectrum and intrinsic fluorescence quenching of BSA molecule are indicative of the occurrence of structural changes caused by binding with the surface of CeO NPs.

We established that the content of total phospholipids in tissues of the liver and dorsal muscles of three-year-old sterlet was less than for two-year-old fish by 15% and 20% (P ≤ 0.01), respectively.

The review deals with peculiarities of molecular mechanisms of metabolism regulation of fatty acids and other lipid components in preruminant and ruminant animals (i.e. before and after formation of the functioning of the mixed microbial population in the rumen).

Regardless of the absence of transketolase reaction in the cells of all studied strains, they metabolized highly the above substrates that are dissimilar in chemical structure and produced different products of their degradation. It has been shown that the high metabolic level in the cells is provided by the function of the unique enzymatic reaction catalyzed by 2-keto-3-desoxy-6-phosphogluconate aldolase (EC 4.
