Objective: This review examines the research of the effects of alcohol advertising on the cognitive mechanisms that precede underage alcohol use.
Method: Using PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines, we reviewed 22 studies (1988-2016) selected from 22,040 articles. The final sample assessed cognitive responses of youth younger than the legal purchase age who were exposed to alcohol advertisements from television or magazines.

The Difficult Airway Society 2015 guidelines for management of unanticipated difficulties in tracheal intubation in adults have generated much discussion regarding Plan D: emergency front-of-neck access with a scalpel-bougie cricothyroidotomy technique. There is concern that this technique may not provide an adequate pathway for the bougie and subsequently the tracheal tube, especially in obese patients with deeper airway structures. This could lead to the formation of a false passage, trauma and failure.

The bird-face deformity of a severe class II, high Frankfort-mandibular plane angle with significant retrogenia, often associated with diminutive condyles and reduced posterior face height, poses many challenges to the orthognathic surgeon. Of greatest concern in these patients is the degree of mandibular advancement required and the potential for relapse. The sagittal split osteotomy is the workhorse of mandibular surgery but does not allow significant lengthening of the ramus, which is desirable in this group of patients.
