Alloimmunization remains a major obstacle to successful kidney transplantation, mainly due to the formation of anti-HLA antibodies. In recent years, non-HLA antibodies have emerged as additional immunologic factors that can potentially contribute to graft rejection. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and specificity of both anti-HLA and non-HLA antibodies in patients with end-stage renal disease on a waiting list for kidney transplantation.

The results of antiproliferative evaluation of quinoline and coumarin ligands and their rhenium(I) tricarbonyl complexes on various human tumor cell lines, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia (CCRF-CEM), acute monocytic leukemia (THP1), cervical adenocarcinoma (HeLa), colon adenocarcinoma (CaCo-2), T-cell lymphoma (HuT78), and non-tumor human fibroblasts (BJ) showed that the quinoline complexes 5a-5e had higher inhibitory activity than coumarin complexes 6a-6d, particularly against T-cell lymphoma (HuT78) cells. 6-Methoxy-2-(trifluoromethyl)quinoline 5e and 6-methylcoumarin 6d, and their rhenium(I) tricarbonyl complexes 5e and 6d were found to arrest the cell cycle of HuT78 cells by causing a significant accumulation of cells in the G0/G1 phase and a marked decrease in the number of cells in the G2/M phase.

Compounds were tested for their effects on the growth of the non-tumor cell line MRC-5 (human fetal lung fibroblasts) and carcinoma (HeLa and CaCo-2), leukemia, and lymphoma (Hut78, THP-1, and HL-60) cell lines. The obtained results, expressed as the concentration at which 50% inhibition of cell growth is achieved (IC value), show that the tested compounds affect cell growth differently depending on the cell line and the applied dose (IC ranged from 0.

This is a survey-based cross-sectional study that was conducted to determine Croatian pharmacists', physicians', and students' knowledge and attitudes about cannabidiol (CBD). Two questionnaires were created, one for students and the other for physicians and pharmacists.

Despite very aggressive treatment modalities, the five-year survival rate has not changed for decades and is still around 60%. The search for potential specific biomarkers of aggressiveness or outcome indicators could be of great benefit in improving the treatment of these patients.
