Neuropathic pain is a debilitating chronic condition that remains difficult to treat. More efficacious and safer therapeutics are needed. A potential target for therapeutic intervention recently identified by our group is the G-protein coupled receptor 160 (GPR160) and the cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript peptide (CARTp) as a ligand for GPR160.

Exploring the Role of Bergamot Polyphenols in Alleviating Morphine-Induced Hyperalgesia and Tolerance through Modulation of Mitochondrial SIRT3.

Morphine is an important pain reliever employed in pain management, its extended utilize is hindered by the onset of analgesic tolerance and oxidative stress. Long-term morphine administration causes elevated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), disrupting mitochondrial function and inducing oxidation. Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3), a mitochondrial protein, is essential in modulating ROS levels by regulating mitochondrial antioxidant enzymes as manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD).

Prevalence of delivery mode in an Italian nationwide cohort with celiac disease: a SIGENP multicenter retrospective study (the CD-deliver-IT).

Background: Studies have indicated an association between cesarean section (CS), especially elective CS, and an increased risk of celiac disease (CD), but the conclusions of other studies are contradictory. The primary aim of this study (CD-deliver-IT) was to evaluate the rate of CS in a large population of CD patients throughout Italy.  METHODS: This national multicenter retrospective study was conducted between December 2020 and November 2021.

Control of anterior anchorage with miniscrews and sliding mechanics in an adolescent with missing second premolars: A clinical report with biomechanical validation.

Congenital missing second premolars in growing patients should be accurately evaluated in order to establish a suitable treatment plan. Concerning the decision of whether to close or maintain spaces in the dental arches, it shall also be based on biomechanical aspects and the aesthetic traits of individual patients. Accordingly, the option of closing tooth spaces requires an adequate application of biomechanical principles aimed at avoiding detrimental effects on dental arches and facial profile.

No COVID-19 pandemic impact on incidence and clinical presentation of celiac disease in Italian children.

Aim: We aimed to evaluate the impact of Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic on the incidence and clinical presentation of celiac disease (CD) in children.

Methods: The diagnoses of CD were compared between the COVID-19 pandemic (from April 2020 to March 2022) and the pre-pandemic period (from April 2018 to March 2020) in three Italian Paediatric Gastroenterology centres (Varese, Como, Catanzaro). Electronic patient records were reviewed and additional information were collected through parental interview.
