Antioxidants agents play an essential role in the food industry for improving the oxidative stability of food products. In the last years, the search for new natural antioxidants has increased due to the potential high toxicity of chemical additives. Therefore, the synthesis and evaluation of the antioxidant activity in peptides is a field of current research.

Endoplasmic reticulum stress: A possible connection between intestinal inflammation and neurodegenerative disorders.

Background: Different studies have shown the key role of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in autoimmune and chronic inflammatory disorders, as well as in neurodegenerative diseases. ER stress leads to the formation of misfolded proteins which affect the secretion of different cell types that are crucial for the intestinal homeostasis.

Purpose: In this review, we discuss the role of ER stress and its involvement in the development of inflammatory bowel diseases, chronic conditions that can cause severe damage of the gastrointestinal tract, focusing on the alteration of Paneth cells and goblet cells (the principal secretory phenotypes of the intestinal epithelial cells).

Posterior Shoulder Dislocation with Engaging Reverse Hill-Sachs Lesion: A Retrospective Study of Ten Patients Treated with Arthroscopy or Open Reduction and Stabilization.

This study compares two surgical techniques used to treat patients with posterior shoulder dislocation with an engaging reverse Hill-Sachs lesion. We assessed ten patients who were treated at the Surgical Orthopedic and Traumatological Institute (ICOT) of Latina and the Clinic of Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery of the ASST Sette Laghi of Varese between 2016 and 2019. The patients were divided into two groups: the first comprising six patients who underwent the open surgery McLaughlin procedure as modified by Neer, the second including four patients who underwent the arthroscopic McLaughlin procedure.

Defining and assessing key behavioral indicators of the Shifting Cultural Lenses model of cultural competence.

Models of cultural competence highlight the importance of the sociocultural world that is inhabited by patients, and the question of how best to integrate sociocultural factors into clinical assessment and intervention. However, one significant limitation of such approaches is that they leave unclear what type of in-session therapist behaviors actually reflect cultural competence. We draw on the Shifting Cultural Lenses model to operationalize culturally competent in-session behaviors.

A case of shoulder periprosthetic fracture in elderly patient. The patient underwent a minimally invasive osteosynthesis and "off-label" treatment with teriparatide. An 80-year-old woman patient following an accidental fall reported a transverse displaced diaphyseal fracture of the right humerus, distal to the stem of the inverse prosthesis.
