Background And Importance: In 2018, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) produced syncope guidelines that for the first-time incorporated Emergency Department (ED) management. However, very little is known about the characteristics and management of this patient group across Europe.
Objectives: To examine the prevalence, clinical presentation, assessment, investigation (ECG and laboratory testing), management and ESC and Canadian Syncope Risk Score (CSRS) categories of adult European ED patients presenting with transient loss of consciousness (TLOC, undifferentiated or suspected syncope).
Human activities have increased environmental concentrations of pollutants in marine ecosystems, which can cause harmful effects on marine organisms. Top predators are particularly susceptible to bioaccumulation and biomagnification of pollutants through the food webs and are described as good sentinels for monitoring metal accumulation such mercury (Hg) in marine ecosystems. However, to be used as sentinels, it is important to understand the main ecological factors affecting the concentrations of pollutants in these organisms.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has generated a substantial increase in the workload of those working in front-line services, and there is evidence of physical and mental distress among professionals that may have caused an increase in burnout.
Objective: The objective of the study was to evaluate the level of burnout in the different professionals of emergency medical services.
Meta-regressions of around 1000 cases published over the period 1997-2018 suggest that the direction of the relationship between land area and agricultural performance strongly depends on the performance indicator selected. Net value and efficiency indicators show that larger farms tend to be more performant than smallholders, while the simpler but ubiquitous gross output indicators support an inverse relationship (IR). In addition, this study also indicates a decreasing record of IR in the literature over time, regardless of the indicator used.

In this study, we investigated whether doxorubicin promotes Pgp and/or BCRP expression to induce drug resistance in colon cancer cells under hypoxic conditions. We analyzed HIF-1α activity via ELISA, Pgp, and BCRP expression by qRT-PCR and the relationship between doxorubicin uptake and ABC transporter expression via confocal microscopy in HT-29WT and HT-29 doxorubicin-resistant colon cancer cells (HT-29DxR).
