Decellularized Wharton's Jelly and Amniotic Membrane Demonstrate Potential Therapeutic Implants in Tracheal Defects in Rabbits.

Background: Tracheal grafts have been investigated for over a century, aiming to replace various lesions. However, tracheal reconstruction surgery remains a challenge, primarily due to anatomical considerations, intraoperative airway management, the technical complexity of reconstruction, and the potential postoperative morbidity and mortality. Due to research development, the amniotic membrane (AM) and Wharton's Jelly (WJ) arise as alternatives within the new set of therapeutic alternatives.

Tailoring Electrical Properties in Carbon Nanomaterial Patterns with Multimaterial Aerosol Jet Printing.

Multimaterial aerosol jet printing offers a unique capability to freely mix inks with different chemical compositions in the aerosol phase, enabling one-step digital fabrication with tailored compositions or functionally graded structures, including in the plane. Here, in situ mixing of two carbon nanomaterial inks with distinct electrical properties is demonstrated. By tailoring the mixing ratio of the constituent inks, electrical conductivity is modulated by 130×, and sheet resistance values for a single pass span approximately 2 orders of magnitude.

The Preventive Effects of Salubrinal against Pyrethroid-Induced Disruption of Adult Hippocampal Neurogenesis in Mice.

Environmental factors, including pesticide exposure, have been identified as substantial contributors to neurodegeneration and cognitive impairments. Previously, we demonstrated that repeated exposure to deltamethrin induces endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, reduces hippocampal neurogenesis, and impairs cognition in adult mice. Here, we investigated the potential relationship between ER stress and hippocampal neurogenesis following exposure to deltamethrin, utilizing both pharmacological and genetic approaches.

Knowledge, attitudes and practices on contraceptive use among young people in selected universities in Zimbabwe.

Contraception is vital, not only because of the statistical evidence on utilisation of the services by women, but for economic and societal reasons. Uptake and use of contraceptives among youth in Zimbabwe is low at 12% for the 15-19 years and 49% for the 20-24 years compared to 67% of all married women in the country. Unmet need for family planning remains high at 13% (15-19 years) and 10.

Barriers and facilitators influencing utilization of intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) in Zimbabwe.

IUCD (Copper-T) is a safe, effective and long-acting reversible contraceptive and its uptake in Zimbabwe is currently less than 1%. Interventions to improve the uptake of IUCD require evidence on key factors contributing to its low uptake. The study was conducted to identify the gaps and offer opportunities for evidence-based family planning aimed at improving demand for IUCD, supply-side conditions, and influencing attitudes towards IUCD.
