Morphologic and microbiologic study of the operation and biopsy specimens, obtained from 73 patients with odontogenic inflammatory processes has shown that in 38% of cases the inflammation was induced by mixed fungal and bacterial flora. Associations of staphylococci or streptococci with actinomyces, Candida, Penicillium, Rhodotorula were most frequently isolated. As a rule, weak patients developed odontogenic inflammatory processes with mycotic involvement, these processes often taking a chronic course.
