The use of porous phoxonic crystals with coupled optical and acoustic response has been proposed as a sensing device. Due to the porous nature of the crystal, each layer of the structure can be connected to the environment. As the optical and acoustic performances of the phoxonic crystal change when a gas permeates the pores due to modifications of the effective refractive index and density of the system, it results that these structures are suitable platforms for the detection of gases.

Here, we describe the case of an 8-year-old boy diagnosed with severe haemophilia A shortly after birth. At 2 years old, he was also diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

Tumours initially misdiagnosed as haematomas and conversely haematomas mistaken for tumours have been reported. Here, we describe the case of a 43-year-old man with severe haemophilia A and a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, originally diagnosed as a haematoma, who underwent a splenectomy and several associated surgeries as part of his lymphoma treatment.

We develop likelihood-based sufficient dimension reduction methods (SDR) to find linear combinations that contain all the information in the compositional data on an outcome variable, i.e.
