[Isolation and characterization of holocellulose from Alfalfa].

Holocellulose isolated from the aerial parts of alfalfa (Medicago sativa) contains a polysaccharide complex of cellulose and hemicelluloses, the major structural components of cell walls. Holocellulose is highly hydrophilic and has a dense biopolymer packing. The carboxylic groups of hemicelluloses and cellulose determines the ability of holocellulose to adsorb polyvalent metal cations.

[Effects of vegetable food supplements on the course of experimental hepatitis].

Hepatitis is a widespread form of affection of the liver that is among first causes of the population disablement. The paper describes the produced food fibre recovered from different plant raw stuff. The food fibre of the pod-bearing plants and of the grape produce processing secondary resources have been shown to improve the systemic condition of those laboratory animals presenting with a hepatitis-affected liver.

No one would at present call in question the importance and necessity of using vegetable food fibre (as isolated biopolymers, such as lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin substances forming a part of a complex of food fibre or adding the latter to conventional foodstuffs) in everyday diet of man. The conducted experimental investigations have shown that the studied kinds of food fibre do not affect hemopoiesis, they are not toxical, animals tolerate these well, which facts warrant their usage as dietary supplementation in man.

[Dietary fibers of secondary vegetable raw material for correction of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in laboratory animals].

Drop of consumption by the population of dietary fibers is one of the causes of increase of sickness rate by diabetes in particular, and violation of carbohydrate metabolism in general. The purpose of research is definition of a degree of effect of dietary fibers of by-products of grapes processing (grape seed-cakes and press cake of grape pyrenes in an mixture with sorbite) on a carbohydrate and lipide metabolism in laboratory animals. During examinations is detected, that the vegetable products based on dietary fibers do not have negative action on physical development of animals, their body weight.

One of the important problems in treatment of diabetes is the preventing of considerable fluctuations of level of a glucose in a blood during day. In this connection it is recommended to reduce fat consumption, to prefer rations with a high content of dietary fibers. In experiences on rats is found, that a blood sedimentation rate, level of a hemoglobin did not differ from control magnitudes in conditions of long-lived trials of vegetable preparations.
