Introduction: There is scarce data in literature on the demographics, treatment, and outcomes of subtrochanteric femur fracture patients. This study evaluated the effect of age on injury details, perioperative and hospital parameters, and outcomes following subtrochanteric fracture fixation.

Methods: An IRB-approved review of a consecutive series of subtrochanteric femoral fractures was performed.

Restricted sugar and ketogenic diets can alter energy balance/metabolism, but decreased energy intake may be compensated by reduced expenditure. In healthy adults, randomization to restricting free sugars or overall carbohydrates (ketogenic diet) for 12 weeks reduces fat mass without changing energy expenditure versus control. Free-sugar restriction minimally affects metabolism or gut microbiome but decreases low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C).

Introduction: Pulmonary hypertension (PHTN) is associated with increased morbidity and mortality in noncardiac surgery and elective surgery. This population of patients has a low physiological reserve and is prone to cardiac arrest as a result. This study aims to identify the impact that PHTN has on outcomes among geriatric hip fracture patients.
