The use of liposomes as drug delivery systems emerged in the last decades in view of their capacity and versatility to deliver a variety of therapeutic agents. By means of small-angle neutron scattering (SANS), we performed a detailed characterization of liposomes containing outer membrane protein F (OprF), the main porin of the bacterium outer membrane. These OprF-liposomes are the basis of a novel vaccine against this antibiotic-resistant bacterium, which is one of the main hospital-acquired pathogens and causes each year a significant number of deaths.

Objective: To compare radiologically balloon kyphoplasty (BKP) and vertebral compression fracture (VCF) expansion and corroborate with a finite element (FE) analysis. The principle of BKP is to stabilize VCF by restoring vertebral body anatomy using bone expansion and cement filling. In France, 11,294 proximal tibia fractures occurred in 2018 and 6880 surgical procedures were done to treat them. Most of these were tibial plateau fractures, although fractures can occur in the metaphysis only or in the intercondylar eminence. The proximal tibia's poor vascularization justifies sparing it by doing a percutaneous treatment, setting the stage for bone union.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic trouble of the hemoglobin synthesis inherited as an autosomal recessive trait, whose prevalence can vary from 5 to 25% in the different parts of the world. It is characterized by the presence of abnormal hemoglobin HbS instead of hemoglobin A. Patients suffering from major forms of SCD present the risk of developing epiphyseal necrosis.
