The US biomedical research enterprise is renowned for its historical and ongoing scientific breakthroughs and advancements. Yet its capacity to solve complex health issues, bridge health equity gaps, and strengthen public trust is constrained by the lack of an overarching national vision, fragmented coordination for research funding, and critical workforce recruitment and retention challenges. To improve national health outcomes and retain global competitiveness, the sector must embrace new approaches.

The extent to which these recommendations are implemented is uncertain, as real-world data on hyperkalaemia management are limited. The Tracking Treatment Pathways in Adult Patients with Hyperkalemia (TRACK) study is a multinational, prospective, longitudinal study that is being conducted to address this knowledge gap.

Third wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions have been shown to reduce stress in this parent population. Previous research has indicated interventions including decision-support aids to better support youth to effectively contextualize blood glucose results and take appropriate action to optimize glucose levels during and after exercise. Mobile health (mHealth) apps help deliver health behavior interventions to youth with T1D, given the use of technology for glucose monitoring, insulin dosing, and carbohydrate counting.
