The DC1 domain protein Vacuoleless Gametophytes regulates stamen development in Arabidopsis.

Vacuoleless Gametophytes (VLG) is a DC1 domain protein that was initially characterized as essential for early female and male gametophytes development in Arabidopsis. However, VLG expression was also detected in stamens, pistils and other sporophytic tissues, implying a broader role for this protein. As homozygous insertional VLG lines resulted unviable, we generated Arabidopsis amiRNA VLG knock-down plants to study the role of VLG in sporophyte development.

Automatic measurement of choroidal thickness with swept-source optical coherence tomography in chronic Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease: 3 years' follow-up.

Purpose: The course of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease is typically assessed qualitatively using indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) and enhanced-depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT). However, a quantitative approach could improve accuracy and objectivity. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical value of the automated measurement capabilities of swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) to measure choroidal thickness (quantitative approach) in chronic VKH.

Renal function outcomes in living kidney donors in a transplant center in Colombia.

Introduction: Living kidney donation is currently low in Colombia, and this is associated with the lack of knowledge of the risks and renal function outcomes of potential donors; there are no studies that evaluate these outcomes. The objective of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of renal function, the incidence of metabolic diseases, arterial hypertension, as well as the finding of albuminuria and/or proteinuria in living kidney donors with a 2-year follow-up post donation.

Methods: Observational study in living kidney donor patients, in which renal function outcomes were evaluated between the predonation period and up to 24 months postdonation.

Edible Insects: Consumption, Perceptions, Culture and Tradition Among Adult Citizens from 14 Countries.

Although edible insects (EIs) are encouraged as a sustainable source of protein, their consumption is not as generalised as other types of food that are internationally accepted. While in some regions of the world, EIs are part of the gastronomic and cultural traditions, in other regions, people are not so receptive to this type of food, and some people even express some disgust towards it. Hence, this research focused on the habits of the participants regarding the consumption of insects as well as their perceptions about EIs being or not a part of the local culture or gastronomic patrimony.

Results of endovascular interventions for peripheral arterial diseases on the targeted arterial segments.

Objective: Endovascular interventions (EVIs) are an effective and minimally invasive therapeutic option for peripheral arterial diseases (PADs). This study aimed to evaluate the results of EVIs for PADs on the targeted arterial segments (TASs).

Patients And Methods: One hundred and sixteen (116) participants with PADs were included in this cohort study.
