Rectourethral fistula is a serious complication following laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. We report our experience with a transsphincteric approach in the repair of this uncommon complication. The rectourethral fistula was repaired in a three-stage procedure comprising fecal diversion, transsphincteric repair of the fistula and, finally, closure of the stoma.

As the number of self-help groups continues to proliferate, the formation of an umbrella body is suggested. A Self-Help Clearinghouse would serve as such an umbrella through the establishment of an information, referral and research service for mutual aid groups in an area. It would also be available to offer technical assistance to existing groups and assistance in the formation of new self-help groups.

Often nonprofessionals lack specific instruction in relevant counseling and problem-solving skills. The effects of training procedures on counseling and problem-solving behaviors were examined experimentally with university students. The procedures involved the use of behavioral specifications, rationales, situational examples, study guides, and practice plus feedback on performance.
