Recommendations on the use of restrictions and assistive devices after total hip arthroplasty: an adolopment of guidelines.

Purpose: Movement restrictions and assistive devices have traditionally been recommended to prevent hip dislocation after total hip arthroplasty (THA). Considering the advancements in THA surgery, a review of treatment recommendations is worthwhile. The aim of this study was to investigate whether unrestricted protocol (without movement restrictions and assistive devices) should be recommended for THA patients.

Operative strategy for tri-malleolar ankle fractures with posteromedial plafond involvement: a review of sixty six cases.

Purpose: We aimed to summarize the radiographic and clinical outcomes in various conditions of tri-malleolar ankle fractures (TMFs) with posteromedial (PM) plafond involvement (TMF + PM) and determine the factors affecting their subjective clinical outcomes.

Methods: Radiographic and clinical findings of 66 patients who underwent operative treatment for TMF + PM were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were classified into three groups according to the PM fracture line location.

Locking compression plate fixation in humeral shaft fractures: A comparative study to literature conservative treatment.

Introduction: Humeral shaft fractures represent about 3% of all fractures. While there are several treatment options for this type of fractures, there is no evidence in literature showing which is the best one. This study aims at analysing the outcomes for patients with humeral shaft fractures treated with Locking Compression Plate (LCP) fixation in our hospital and comparing them with the outcome for patients conservatively treated (according to data from Pubmed),in order to determine the best treatment option.

[F]FDG PET/CT in non-union: improving the diagnostic performances by using both PET and CT criteria.

Purpose: Complete fracture healing is crucial for positive patient outcome. A major complication in fracture treatment is non-union. Infection is among the main causes of non-union and hence of osteosynthesis failure.
