Collecting and communicating perishable data in a post-disaster context: rapid research and rapid dissemination.

Context: Puerto Rico experienced four natural disasters in 4 years (2017-2021): Hurricanes Irma and Maria, thousands of earthquakes reaching 6.4 magnitude, and the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, our team sought to understand the impact of disaster aid distribution on poverty and economic inequality, and their relationship to the spread of COVID-19 across Puerto Rico.

Chronic responses of aerobic granules to the presence of graphene oxide in sequencing batch reactors.

The chronic responses of aerobic granular sludge (AGS) to the presence of graphene oxide nanoparticles (GO NPs) (5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, 85, and 95 mg/L of GO NPs for 7 days) during biological wastewater treatment processes were investigated. Bioreactor performance, extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) secretion, and microbial community characteristics were assessed. The results showed that the effects of GO NPs on bioreactor performances were dependent on the dose applied and the duration for which it was applied.

AngiomiRs: Potential Biomarkers of Pregnancy's Vascular Pathologies.

In recent years, microRNAs (miRNAs) have been the focus of research for their role in posttranscriptional regulation and as potential biomarkers of risk for disease development. Their identification in specific physiological processes, like angiogenesis, a key pathway in placental vascular development in pregnancy, suggests an important role of miRNAs that regulate angiogenesis (angiomiRs). Many complications of pregnancy have in common placental vascular alterations, involving an imbalance in the angiogenesis process in the development of conditions such as preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, and gestational diabetes, complications with the highest rates of morbimortality in pregnancy.

Radiology of pancreatic neoplasms: An update.

Diagnostic imaging is an important tool to evaluate pancreatic neoplasms. We describe the imaging features of pancreatic malignancies and their benign mimics. Accurate detection and staging are essential for ensuring appropriate selection of patients who will benefit from surgery and for preventing unnecessary surgeries in patients with unresectable disease.

Chlamydia pneumoniae is the third strain of Chlamydia and transmission is presumed to be by droplet spread from symptomatic patients. The authors show a literature scientific review on subject-matter emphasizing several sporadic and epidemic case of illness in every age, first months excepted. The described cases are few and therefore clinical characteristics are shadowy.
