Amoebae, fascinatingly diverse protists, showcase a dual nature that positions them as both friends and foes in our world. These organisms, defined by their distinctive pseudopodia, span a spectrum from harmful to helpful. On the darker side, species like pose serious health risks, causing intestinal and liver diseases, while the infamous "brain-eating" leads to fatal primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM), with a daunting 97% mortality rate.

This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and factors associated with induced second trimester abortions in India.
Data And Methods: Retrospective calendar data for 7,696 women aged 15-49 years from fifth round of National Family Health Survey (2019-2021) was used for the study.
An adult man in his 30s with newly diagnosed diabetes mellitus and hypertension presented with a 33 lb weight gain, generalised swelling and classic Cushingoid features, including proximal muscle weakness, easy bruisability, wide violaceous striae and a painless, progressively enlarging right-sided neck swelling over the past month. Physical examination revealed a 4×4 cm thyroid mass, facial plethora and dorsocervical fat pads. Laboratory investigations confirmed hypercortisolism with elevated cortisol and Adrenocorticotropic Hormone(ACTH), with non-suppression on dexamethasone suppression tests.
