In the paper are considered the basic mechanisms, leading to accumulation of methemoglobin in the red blood cells. The inherited methemoglobinaemia, due to enzymatic failure of cytochrome B5-reductase is considered.

HbA2 and HbF were studied in 91 patients with different forms of psoriasis: 29 with psoriasis vulgaris placata (restricted forms); 31 with psoriasis generalisata and erythroderma psoriaticum; 21 with psoriatic arthritis; 10 with psoriasis pustulosa. Statistically significant increase of HbA2 was established in patients with psoriasis vulgaris placata (restricted forms) as well in patients with psoriatic arthritis. HbF is statistically significant increased in all forms of psoriasis.

40 patients with ischemic heart disease were studied. In 60% of them a higher content of HbA2 was found. These data for higher frequency of HbA2 among the patients with ischemic heart disease do not correspond with the average incidence of the genetically determined anomaly A2-beta-thalassemia among the Bulgarian population.
