The MPTP-animal model of Parkinson's disease has significantly advanced our understanding of Parkinson's disease and the dopaminergic system, helping to establish disease mechanisms and develop therapeutic targets. The non-human primate (NHP) MPTP model is particularly valuable for replicating core Parkinson's disease motor symptoms, anatomical changes and electrophysiological variations seen in humans. However, MPTP-injection protocols often cause substantial suffering, leading to euthanasia.

Multicore fibers are promising structures with specific light propagation properties, which can be managed to benefit several applications in optical communications, fiber lasers and amplifiers, high-resolution imaging, and fiber-based sensors. The current use of multicore fibers in laser technology is mainly focused on in-phase coherent beam combining in far-field regions (out-cavity) using bulk optical elements. However, this approach is challenging in terms of the power scalability of all-fiber lasers (intra-cavity), particularly with using low-gain media, where it is needed to provide mode-coupling (supermode propagation) stability along relatively long lengths.

Single crystalline ZSM-5 ZNs with thicknesses around 6 nm were obtained by secondary growth of silicalite nanoparticles using diquaternary bis-1,5(tripropyl ammonium) pentamethylene diiodide (dC) as a structure-directing agent (SDA). The dC could be effectively removed from the ZN pores by either high-temperature calcination or UV irradiation in air at room temperature but not by the piranha solution treatment. Ultrathin ZN-laminated membranes (ZNLMs) were fabricated by sandwiching a UV-activated multilayered ZN film between two recast Nafion layers (ZNLM-Nafion) and by filtration coating from a suspension of thermally activated ZNs on a nonionic porous PVDF (ZNLM-PVDF).

In this paper, we focus on the fabrication and investigation of optical properties of W-type and Graded-index single-mode Bi-doped germanosilicate fibers. The laser and gain characteristics of Bi-doped fibers of new designs were studied. It was shown that by variation of doping profile, it is possible to change characteristic parameters (active absorption, unsaturable loss level) of the active medium and, as a consequence, achieve an improvement of the performance of the optical devices based on these types of fibers.
