Background: Therapeutic phlebotomy (TP), a widely used medical procedure, can be performed on diverse patients with iron overload or polyglobulia. However, its adverse events are not well known as most of the information on phlebotomy is derived from healthy blood donors (0.1%-5.

The influence of the acid sites in the hydrodeoxygenation of anisole performed over Ni catalysts supported on SBA-15 modified with metal oxides (Ni/M-SBA-15, M = Ti, Zr, Al, or Nb) was demonstrated. Catalysts were characterized by SEM-EDX, nitrogen physisorption, XRD, UV-visible DRS, TPR, TPD of ammonia, IR-Py, O chemisorption, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The mesoporous structure and the hexagonal arrangement of the supports were maintained in the catalysts.

Graphene-TiO composites have been investigated in various photocatalytic reactions showing successful synergy compared to pristine TiO. In the present work, graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized by the Hummers method and then reduced graphene oxide-TiO composites (rGO/TiO) were obtained by an in situ GO photoreduction route. X-ray diffraction, FTIR, Raman, UV-vis DRS, and photoluminescence were the main characterization techniques.

Heberprovac is a GnRH based vaccine candidate containing 2.4 mg of the GnRHm1-TT peptide as the main active principle; 245 μg of the very small size proteoliposomes adjuvant (VSSP); and 350 μL of Montanide ISA 51 VG oil adjuvant. The aim of this study was to assess the safety and tolerance of the Heberprovac in advanced prostate cancer patients as well as its capacity to induce anti-GnRH antibodies, the subsequent effects on serum levels of testosterone and PSA and the patient overall survival.

Maternal obesity (MO) is a deleterious condition that enhances susceptibility of adult offspring to metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes. The objective is to study the effect of MO on in vitro insulin secretion and pancreatic cellular population in offspring. We hypothesize that a harmful antenatal metabolic environment due to MO diminishes the basal glucose-responsive secretory function of pancreatic beta cells in offspring.
