Psychological impact of autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in systemic sclerosis patients and influence of resilience.

Objective: In severe cases of systemic sclerosis (SSc), autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (aHSCT) is superior compared to cyclophosphamide. But treatment related morbidity and mortality have to be considered. To date, data on major physical and psychological impacts of aHSCT are scarce.

Fracture sonography-review of literature and current recommendations.

Over a span of more than two years, a collaborative expert group consisting of 9 professional societies has meticulously crafted the S2e guideline on fracture sonography. This publication encapsulates the essential insights pertaining to specific indications. A thorough and systematic literature search, covering the period from 2000 to March 2021, was conducted across PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, complemented by an evaluation of bibliographies.

High-Resolution Characterization of Enamel Remineralization Using Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry and Electron Microscopy.

Introduction: The aim of this in vitro study was to assess the suitability of high-resolution time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) for visualizing cross-sectional changes in human enamel microstructure and chemical composition during treatment and remineralization cycling of artificially generated caries lesions underneath an artificial plaque.

Methods: Treatments consisted of exposure to twice daily toothpaste/water slurries prepared from 0, 1,100, and 5,000 μg/g fluoride (F) NaF/silica toothpastes. In addition, treatments with slurries prepared from 1,100 μg/g F SnF2/silica toothpastes were done using 44Ca in the remineralization solution to allow for differentiation of newly formed mineral and exploration of incorporated metal dopants using ToF-SIMS.

TB or not TB? Diagnostic Sensitivity, Specifity and Interobserver Agreement in the Radiological Diagnosis of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Children.

Background: The differentiation between latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) and tuberculosis (TB) relies on radiological changes. Confirming the diagnosis remains a challenge because typical findings are often missing in children. This study evaluates diagnostic sensitivity, specifity and interobserver agreement on the radiological diagnosis of TB by chest-x-rays in accordance to professional specialization and work experience.
